It uses a downloaded font (Libre Caslon Text), but curiously, this issue doesn't reproduce at
https://fonts.google.com/specimen/Libre+Caslon+Text
. We probably need a reduction.

rendering in Safari As soon as I do a copy-paste in Edit HTML of the word rêver for example, the issue disappears as you can see on the second word. So the act of copy is modifying the context of the file.

minimal texte. The first word "référence" doesn't have the issue. So I saved as source. Then searching "référence" matches but if search * inachevé (inachevé) * rêver (rêver) * écriture (écriture) it doesn't match Let's hope the difference in between some of the character is preserved in that save.

OK, I can kind of reproduce on fonts.google.com by editing the content in WebInspector to add decomposed Unicode (it shows a missing glyph and doesn't fall back to a wrong font, but it's the same kind of issue). This is probably a dupe of one or both bugs that I'm relating.
